Viezu motors ahead in quality performance (ISO 9001)

Viezu has always been a market leader when it comes to offering motorists performance enhancements and total peace of mind and now this is official!

That’s because it has just helped to further raise the bar for industry standards by becoming fully ISO 9001 certified, not just for its products either, but the supply of ECU enhancement services including training and program development.

The announcement is a welcome boost for motorists looking for improved performance, lower fuel bills or a combination of the two, especially with the recent record fuel prices. The news also provides yet another cast iron stamp of approval for Viezu customers.

Paul Busby, CEO, Viezu, said: “To be one of the first aftermarket car engine tuning companies to achieve full ISO 9001 is great news for drivers of all cars but in particular those needing better performance, whether it be more power or improved fuel consumption.

“Of course, all our products and services are already fully insured and come with a full money back guarantee and this ISO certification gives another level of approval and reassurance.

“We are also hopeful that more and more professional tuning businesses follow our lead, so that anyone getting their car tuned knows that they will be in safe hands wherever they get it done.”

Indeed, to achieve the internationally recognised standard is no mean feat as the Bromsgrove-based business had its entire operational business and structure put under the microscope.

However, one of the major bonuses now the Quality Management System is fully integrated is that Viezu’s 340 approved dealers can guarantee that the electronic files they use are ISO compliant, as well as obviously benefitting from the service back-up and product support from award-winning Viezu itself.

Paul added: “Our ISO status is also great timing because we’re seeing an unprecedented demand for our products, which we believe is partly due to more motorists wanting better fuel economy now that they are faced with petrol and diesel prices going through the roof. In some instances our products give drivers a massive 15 per cent improvement in fuel economy, no matter what vehicle or driving style.”

Indeed, an example of Viezu’s tuning expertise include a Vauxhall Astra 1.9 CDTi (’05 registration with 120,000 miles) which recently had its power increased by 20% to 180bhp and at the same time a 20% improvement in its fuel economy.

“I’m also sure our approved dealers, who have to go through a tough approval process in order to wear the Viezu badge, will benefit greatly from our ISO status and make customers feel they are receiving the very best service available,” said Paul.

In fact, Viezu, which has developed more than 15,000 individual ECU programmes, recently doubled the size of its technical team and appointed a general manager as a result of the high demand for its services.

Paul concluded: “Viezu has been working hard to position itself as a centre of excellence in ECU recalibration and customers can rest assured that even though we’ve achieved ISO certification that we won’t sit on our laurels and will continue to look at ways to improve.”

Notes

Free-Force is a dealer for Viezu
Viezu Technologies is one of the UK’s leading tuning specialists. It has developed more than 15,000 engine ECU remap files which cover 90 per cent of modern European vehicles. It has a network of 90 approved dealers across the UK and more than 200 others located in 34 countries around the world. Since launch the company has helped drivers to reduce their CO2 emissions by more than 50,000 tonnes.

Today Free-Force successfully remapped an Aston Martin Vantage 4.3 V8.

Using the expertise and research and development of Viezu Technologies, this vehicle was transformed via the on board diagnostic (OBD) port. Viezu are currently one of the only companies in the UK that can achieve this via OBD. The vehicle is more responsive, offers between 22 and 25 bhp gain across the whole range, making it 405 bhp now. In fact, at the peak, around 4800 RPM, the gain is close to plus 50 bhp. What a great vehicle, in the words of Aston Martin themselves, POWER, BEAUTY, SOUL.

Here we start a new category about the pitfalls of remapping. As a high quality remapping organisation, Free-Force are very proud to be a Viezu approved dealer and so have the ability of recovery. What this means is that if an error occurs, which is extremely rare, we can recover your vehicle to the original without any adverse affect on the ECU. We have full insurance cover on software upgrades of all ECUs, underwritten by The Royal Sun Alliance. You will also get a 7 day money back guarantee for piece of mind.

Below is an example from today. Our customer wanted better economy from his Mercedes E320 CDi. After discussing the vehicle before any work was done, we were alerted to the fact that he said the performance was good but economy not as good as he had expected. Free-Force booked him in for a best economy remap.

After a diagnostic test with no problems, we read the file (see tutorials in this blog for explanation) and sent it along to Viezu HQ to tune. Simon at Viezu sent us a message saying that it had already been tuned, but very badly, so set about reversing this and tuning it again, how it should have been done in the first place! This took him much more time than usual because of the errors that had been made.

Once we wrote the new properly tuned file to the ECU is came up with an error. This means that the previous poor tuning had corrupted the software and encrypted data meant that we could not overwrite it. Due to the recovery function available to us, Simon sent us back the original file and it was set back to before we started. The whole process took 3 hours but with no cost to the customer because we could not complete what we had promised. He was disappointed but had his vehicle back as it was, badly tuned!

This article will hopefully give the reader piece of mind regarding our very best customer service guarantee and if you don’t get what you asked for you will not pay us anything! We have the ability to recover errors and so your vehicle is not affected.

Some vehicles, VAG group post summer 2009, have anti tuning software on the ECU. This means we cannot remap some of these vehicles through the OBD (on board diagnostic port). Alternatives are to take the ECU out of the vehicle and tune on the bench, or for even more flexibility fit a digital tuning box. Free-Force distribute and fit these Viezu V-Boxes and the results are comparable with a remap. They also have the advantage of being able to be removed and reused or sold on. The disadvantage is that they are visible. The boxes can be adjusted for best economy or best performance.

Please note that the V-Box is only fitted to diesel common rail engines, so the list is more limited. For more detail take a look at the specific page on our website here

Below is an example of one fitted to an Audi A4 2.0 TDi. The customer was keen on fuel economy improvement and reported a boost from 39 to 48 mpg in the first week. On average the V-Box gives a car like this an extra 100 miles on a full fuel tank!

Free-Force will either send you a V-Box through mail order, available to buy on our website page above, or come to you and fit it for a small installation fee.
